This Competency Unit enables an individual to acquire the skills and knowledge to Operate Forklift.

Course Outline

Prepare to carry out forklift operations
Inspect forklift
Carry out forklift operations
Reinstate and hand over forklift

Target Audience

This course aims to provide people already working or wishing to enter the generic manufacturing industry with the skills and knowledge required to operate forklift. The Competency Unit would be appropriate for people with job title such as Forklift Driver.

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

Learners must be above 18 years ofage and are assumed to:

Have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work
Be able to listen and speak Englishat a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 3
Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 3
Be able to manipulate numbers at aproficiency level equivalent to ES level 3; and
Safety Shoes and proper attire for training

Trainer/Learner ratio for theory sessions: 1:5
Trainer/Learner ratio for practical sessions: 1:1

Attendance

Attendance Requirements: 100% for classroom and practical sessions

Certification

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) and Safety pass will be awarded to successfully completed participants.
